Apple is set to add over 100 new features to it’s iPhone and iPod touch, including the ability to cut, copy and paste text, shake the phone to shuffle between songs, record and send voicemail, and send photos over the mobile network via MMS.
Apple will also introduce a number of software hooks, allowing developers to sell their applications on the iproducts.
Upgrades include:
- Recognising other applications running on nearby devices using Bluetooth
- Pairing up applications with hardware – eg turning an iPhone into an equalizer for a set of speakers
- Embedding Google’s map service into an application
The software will be available this week as a developer beta and as a free update for iPhone customers in the next few months.
