Web analytics firm HubSpot has found that despite the popularity of Twitter, barely a peep is heard from most members.
The research has found that nearly 55 percent of 4.5 million Twitter members monitored have never “tweeted” and more than half have no followers and do not follow any other members.
A similar study by Harvard Business School researchers has also found that 10 percent of Twitter members account for 90 percent of tweets.
According to Harvard MBA student Bill Heil and assistant professor Mikolaj Piskorski, a typical twitter user “contributes very rarely.”
