Learn the shortcuts to starting a business

Over 9000 businesses shut their doors during the first half of 2012, but two successful entrepreneurs believe the younger generation can save failing businesses – and they want to show you how.

Business Builders Academy founder Carl Taylor and RioLife co-founder Jeremy Liddle say it’s the younger generation that can help ailing businesses thrive in today’s uncertain economic climate.

And on 19 July 2012 the duo will join forces to host the ‘Shortcuts To Starting A Business’ event, which will be held at the Sydney Masonic Centre.

According to a recent report by Taylor Woodings, 9074 SMBs across the country failed during the first half of this year. The report also revealed Baby Boomers will be driven out of small businesses and into early retirement within the next 10 years, with many choosing to simply close the doors on their businesses.

Taylor attributes the demise of thousands of SMBs as due to poor business plans, weak strategies and a lack of support.

“It’s not just at the retirement end that businesses are failing, a huge proportion of businesses don’t make it past their first three years, [but there] is a huge opportunity for the younger generation to save these businesses and make a lot of money in the process,” he said.

To ensure business ventures are a success, education and strategic planning are vital ingredients. He and Liddle believe they have the answer though, and are willing to share it at next month’s event.

“When starting out most entrepreneurs jump into their business starry eyed and completely under-prepared [with] no structured business plan [and] others are simply too intimidated or daunted by the prospect of launching a business and never try,” Taylor said.

The pair have identified two types of entrepreneurs in need of education and strategic advice;

1. Those with a great idea that need help with confidence, planning, support and access to funding; and

2. Those without an idea but a burning desire to get into business, for which Taylor said he has “the ultimate shortcut”.

Entrepreneurs or aspiring business owners in these situations are invited to attend the event. Tickets cost $97.00, and include a free gift of Jeremy Liddle’s book From Idea To Startup.
