There is a shortage of skilled managers in the hospitality and retail industries, with advertising and sales managers also in short supply, a new report has revealed.

Australian businesses recruiting employees face increasing costs as skilled employees become harder to find, with key infrastructure projects, including the National Broadband Network draining the employee talent pool.

The latest results from the quarterly Clarius Skills Index have predicted that if unemployment continues to rise there will be an oversupply of between 35,000 and 50,000 skilled workers in Australia by 2010.
