Telstra today announced the finalists for its 2010 Telstra Victorian Business Awards, with the majority of the businesses targeting international exporting as part of their growth plans.
This year’s shortlist is made up of 24 small and medium businesses, with more than 70 percent identifying international and interstate expansion as key to their future growth.
Telstra Business Group Managing Director and Telstra Business Awards Ambassador, Deena Shiff, said the detailed assessment based on international benchmarking and developed in conjunction with the NSW Business Chamber confirmed that Victoria’s leading firms had solid business plans in place.
“All of the companies selected as finalists had thorough plans looking as far as a decade ahead and were primed and ready to seek out future growth opportunities”, Ms Shiff said. “The fact that the best businesses in the state are meeting global best practice in business planning is a very positive sign for Victoria’s economy going forward.”
Companies shortlisted for prizes this year include a cheese making supply and educational business which was founded as a result of the owner receiving a cow as a housewarming present, a company which has developed traffic management technologies that are being used in 94 countries and a commercial cleaning company that have helped their customers cut winter absentee rates by 30 to 70 per cent as a result of their thorough cleaning regime.
The winners wil be announced at the Docklands on 2 July and will receive $400,000 in cash and prizes before continuing to the national Awards in Sydney on 20 August.
