Karalee Evans proves social media has changed recruitment game

Proof that social media is changing the face of the corporate recruitment comes in the shape of Karalee Evans, who has landed herself the role as Social Strategy Manager for Amnesia Razorfish.

Karalee EvansKaralee Evans was a talented PR consultant with a well-rounded career before she courted notoriety online, posting a job-wanted advertisement on twitter and media/marketing blog Mumbrella. The cheeky ad read: “An opportunity for a bold and beautiful agency has arisen, with a senior skirt now available for hire”.

Causing a social media storm, Evans also caught the attention of Amnesia Razorfish, one of Australia’s premier digital agencies. Today social media and new business director Jennie Bewes announced they would appoint Evans as its new Social Strategy Manager. “Karalee’s clever recruitment drive and the instant response online really caught our eye”.

Evans brings nearly 10 years of experience to the role, having worked for the National Youth Mental Health Foundation, the Victorian Department of Infrastructure and Australian Air Express. The innovative PR consultant will move from Melbourne to Sydney to take up the role, but remains surprised at the discussion her “bit of fun” generated. “It really turned into an interesting example of how social media can evolve and generate important debate around issues. Social strategy is what I’m passionate about and I’m excited to be making the move to Sydney to join the Amnesia Razorfish team.”
