There are positive results from the latest MYOB Business Monitor and it indicates that Aussie businesses have survived the GFC and are galloping along again. Way to go Aussie businesses!
Now that it’s been decided which party will govern Australia, it’s important for the Gillard Government to support this drive forward with some strong business policies.
Prior to the election around a third of businesses were dissatisfied with the Federal Government’s support for business. And there were two key areas of concern for Aussie businesses:
- Having to deal with government red tape
- Understanding how new government legislation impacts their business.
For each point, almost two thirds of businesses indicated it has a significant impact on their ability to achieve business goals.
Red tape has always been a significant pain point for businesses, and with more rules and regulation it only gets worse. It’s important to focus on reducing this pain point as it has such a significant impact on running a business.
While the government has been working to reduce the red tape burden, it is still not enough and more needs to be done.
It’s important for both the Federal and State Governments to continue to work hard to reduce the compliance burden for businesses owners.
Have you got any ideas on where you’d like to see “red tape” removed? What legislative and compliance processes really impact your businesses? What do you want the new Gillard Government to focus on in terms of making your business life easier?
