The second round of the Federal Government’s $900 stimulus payments to 8.7 million taxpayers have started flowing into bank accounts, with the first cheques to arrive in the mail on Wednesday.
According to Australian Tax Office second commissioner Jenny Granger, payments will be made in random order based on postcodes.
The ATO has received more than 500,000 inquiries about the bonus, with Granger claiming that, “the size of this payment over such a short time is the biggest one we have done in our history.”
For those Australians who are yet to fill out a tax return for 2007-08, they must do so before June 30 to qualify for the tax bonus.
