Passionate women’s rights advocate and journalist Tracey Spicer AM has been named 2019 NSW Premier’s Woman of the Year – the top honour at the NSW Women of the Year awards.
Ms Spicer accepted the award from Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Minister for Women Tanya Davies at the WOTY Awards ceremony in Sydney today.
“Tracey has worked tirelessly against sexual harassment in the workplace. Tracey is a true inspiration who is using her personal experience and platform to drive change for women in our workplaces,” Ms Berejiklian said.
A further six outstanding women from across NSW took out the top spot in their nominated category, ranging from community heroes to lifetime achievers.
“I would like to congratulate all the incredible women who have deservedly been recognised as winners and finalists. Your achievements are paving the way generations of women to come,” Ms Berejiklian said.
Mrs Davies said this year’s awards program attracted an unprecedented number of nominations and more than 9000 votes.
“The NSW Liberals & Nationals Government is working hard to progress gender equity for women across the State and we are so pleased the momentum of the Awards has grown year on year,” Mrs Davies said
“The Awards give women and girls everywhere the chance to be inspired, hear from women who are driving progress in their chosen field or communities, and remind us of what is possible.”

Harvey Norman Young Woman of the Year – Dr Angelica Merlot

Community Hero Award – Dr Leng Tan NSW Business
Woman of the Year – Leanne Heywood
The NSW Women of the Year Awards were held as part of the first NSW Women’s Week.
