Telstra has today named the finalists in their Queensland Business Awards, with 19 SMEs from across the state nominated for the annual competition.
The nominated firms reflect a vast cross section of the Queensland economy, ranging from beach sports company Sandstorm to a local veterinary clinic in Calamvale.
About 80 per cent of the shortlisted businesses identified heightened local market dominance as integral to continued growth, while roughly half were increasing their focus to both the rest of the country as well as abroad.
With the awards are moving into their 18th year , entrants were for the first time offered the chance to get a free ‘Business Health Check’.
The review was based on international benchmarking and developed in conjunction with the NSW Business Chamber.
Telstra Business Group Manager Director Deena Shiff said that the assessment confirmed that Queensland’s leading firms were nationally well positioned and prepared for the future.
“The Health Check showed that all of the companies selected as finalists had thorough plans looking as far as a decade ahead and were primed and ready to seek out future growth opportunities.
“The fact that the best businesses in the state are meeting global best practice in business planning is a very positive sign for Queensland’s economy going forward.”
Other finalists up for multiple awards included The Daintree Discovery centre, innovative herbicide dealers Technigro, as well as Signmanager Pty Ltd.
