A new report has found that Tasmania imposes the highest taxing rate on small businesses.
An Institute of Public Affairs report shows Tasmania imposes the highest taxing rate on businesses with fewer than 20 employees in the country.
Tasmanian Treasurer Michal Aird has expressed his sympathy for these small businesses, but is standing firm on the tax rate.
“I have the utmost sympathy and support for small business,” he said. “It’s a tough ride and I know the pressures they are under from time to time so I’m not unsympathetic.”
He added that despite the high taxes, Tasmania is a good place to do business.
