Applications for INNOVIC’s Next Big Thing Award 2009 are now being accepted.
The Next Big Thing Award allows budding inventors to submit their new inventions in the categories of green/sustainability, innovation excellence, community benefit and people’s choice; in the hope of becoming ‘the next big thing.’
Inventors will have the chance to win a share of $60,000 cash and prizes, plus $100,000 to promote their invention.
The awards will feature an exhibition of the top 25 inventions and innovations at the Melbourne Museum for a six week duration. Six inventors will then be honoured with an award in the categories of Judges’ Choice, People’s Choice, Best International Invention, Green/Sustainability, Innovation Excellence and Community Benefit.
The winner of the Judges’ Choice Award will receive $10,000 cash, along with funds to market their invention; the People’s Choice Award winner will receive $3,000 in cash; the Best International Inventor will be rewarded with a trip to Australia along with 5 nights’ accommodation in Melbourne, while the Green/Sustainability, Innovation Excellence and Community Benefit Award winners will receive a trophy and a share in the cash and prizes.
