The government is urging struggling businesses to seek counselling if they are experiencing personal or economic difficulties in this tough climate.
The demand for counselling has jumped by 58 percent in the last few months according to head of assistance group Converge International, Dr Lindsay McMillan, with job insecurity and workplace stress leading to a wave of depressed workers.
There are a number of government funded counselling services available to individuals and small businesses, with counselling provided on a range of issues including the financial position of the business; how to manage the business during the global financial crisis; coping in rural and regional areas, along with maintaining personal relationships.
