Australian businesses may be able to throw away those old-fashioned cash registers, thanks to a free app that provides sellers with a range of back office tools that aims to track activity and provide business insights.
Square Register, which is currently being used by millions of businesses throughout the United States, is said to offer businesses a complete point-of-sale solution.
“The cash register was invented to solve the basic pain points of running a business, like recording sales,” said Square CEO Jack Dorsey.
“Our Register empowers sellers to drill into their business with sophisticated reporting tools to run and grow their business.”
The app allows for users to monitor daily business activity in real time directly from their device, a big step in the rise of Cloud technology.
A key feature comes in the app’s ability to be connected with hardware accessories. Receipt and kitchen printers, cash drawers and even barcode scanners can be connected to Square Register, which lowers the need to invest in a complex POS infrastructure.
Square Register also enables businesses to interact with consumers, with the ability to respond to customer queries and feedback.
The app, made for iOS and Android, is available in English, French, Spanish and Japanese, and recognises 130 currencies worldwide.
