Bottled water ban will hurt local business

The NSW Government’s ban on bottled water in government departments will hurt local businesses, says the Australasian Bottled Water Institute’s CEO, Geoff Parker.

NSW Premier Nathan Rees has announced a ban on the purchase of bottled water within government departments, a decision that will hurt ABWI members, says Parker.

“ABWI members are largely local businesses – many of them NSW-based – that employ thousands of workers in the bottling and distribution of bottled water.

“The domino effect of this decision on company owners, workers and families of local NSW bottlers, their suppliers and small business retailers who stock and sell the products could be devastating.”

According to Parker, customers should be able to make a rational and informed choice on how they hydrate themselves.
