Queensland’s favourite Aussie pie shop, Big Dad’s Pies has gone national, with the opening of a new manufacturing facility allowing the company to SNAP freeze the freshness and quality of their pies and take them on the road.
Big Dad’s Pies has grown rapidly over the past 6 years and now operates 40 stores, and employs over 250 local Queenslanders in retail and manufacturing positions.
With the opening of the multimillion dollar purpose built 3,000sqm manufacturing facility, incorporating new blast freezing equipment, Big Dad’s Pies can now snap freeze their products in less than two hours, locking in the freshness and quality.
CEO Stephen Donnelly said with the new technology they are able to “take our ever popular range of pies, pastries and cakes right across Australia.”
Big Dad’s Pies currently produces over 10,000 pies a day, and over 100,000 pastry products each week.
With the introduction of the snap freezing process, General Manager Dean Atkins expects production to double in the next two years and lead to the addition of a further 40 stores throughout northern Queensland and New South Wales.
