Leaders of the ex-service community gathered at Customs House in Sydney today for the launch of the Raise A Glass Appeal – a new national initiative to raise vital funds for the welfare programs of the Returned and Services League Australia (RSL) and Legacy.
Developed by the RSL National Executive and the Legacy Coordinating Council in partnership with VB, the Raise A Glass Appeal aims to contribute more than $1 million to support serving and ex-service men and women, fallen veterans and their families.
Major General Bill Crews AO, National President of the RSL, says the Raise A Glass Appeal is an opportunity to reflect on the individual sacrifices made by so many during active service.
“The Appeal will build on Australians’ growing commitment to commemorate ANZAC Day, highlighting our strength as a nation,” he said.
The funds raised will be distributed evenly between RSL and Legacy to support programs that provide practical and emotional welfare.
