Apple iTunes contest celebrates 10 billion songs sold through the online store

Apple, to celebrate its 10 billionth song download, is offering one lucky music lover  a $10,000 iTunes gift card.

Apple has seen continued success with its iTunes store and more recently their iPhone App Store, with 13-year-old Connor Mulcahey winning a similar Apple contest surrounding its 1 billionth application download. At the time of writing, the iTunes store had over 9.91 billion downloads and counting, with the magical 10 billion mark expected to be broken within the week.

“iTunes changed the way you buy music, making songs and albums available for download, day or night,” according to Apple. “Seven years later, we’re about to celebrate our biggest milestone for music, yet — 10 billion songs downloaded. Buy a song, and if it’s the 10 billionth download, you could win a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card. It’s our way of saying thanks.”

You don’t have to purchase a song to participate in the contest, you can also fill out a form on the site, up to 25 times per day. The contest is restricted to regions that that Apple sells music, including the United States, the U.K., Canada, and most importantly for Dynamic Business readers – Australia.
