Local online business management solution Deputy.com is celebrating being named the only Asia-Pacific finalist in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Start-Up Challenge.
As the only finalist from the Asia-Pacific region, the business has been awarded US$10,000 in AWS credits and a trip to attend the grand finale to compete against six other finalists to win the global grand prize.
Deputy.com is an online business management solution specifically designed for the HR department, designed to build a positive culture and drive business growth through a range of intuitive and tightly-integrated applications on its online and mobile platform.
According to COO Robb Snell, “AWS has been instrumental to making Deputy.com a world-class product in a short timeframe with a relatively small team.
“Services like Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon SimpleDB have enabled us to quickly develop complex features on a simple foundation. Amazon’s variable pricing has also enabled us to offer a similar pricing model to our customers where we only charge for exactly what the customer uses.”
Each of the finalists will present to a panel of AWS executives, venture capitalists and an audience of technology industry leaders. The global grand prize winner will be awarded with US$50,000 in cash and US$50,000 in AWS credits, AWS premium support services for one year and technical mentorship from Amazon Web Services for one year, as well as a possible investment offer from Amazon.
The finale will be streamed online live from San Jose, starting at 1:30pm AEDT on Friday, 11 November, with Deputy.com taking the stage at between 1:40-2:10pm AEDT.
Those on Twitter will be able to follow the event at #awschallenge.
“AWS really does level the playing field for start-ups, allowing us to be fiercely competitive in our market. The scale and flexibility of cloud services allow us innovate rapidly for the benefit of our customers, which in turn has fuelled tremendous growth for Deputy.com,” Snell added.
