MasterCard and U21Global have announced they will continue their scholarship program for women in the travel and tourism industry into its fourth year.
The MasterCard-U21Global program offers 20 scholarships to help female executives reach their full potential through education. The program is aimed at women who want to expand their skills in management and marketing of tourism and travel.
Last year, three Australia women were chosen for scholarships from the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa region. Kathryn Thwaites a Sydney based, Air New Zealand Airport Operations Manager was one of them.
Thwaites says the scholarship allowed her to develop her skills and improve her career prospects.
By making the scholarship available to women, Thwaites believes, “we can make a mark on the future of the travel industry.”
Michelle Pilot, vice president, Brand Marketing, MasterCard Worldwide said, “As women take on leadership roles within the travel and tourism industry, they can upgrade their skills and fast-track their career development through the MasterCard-U21Global scholarship program.”
Organisations across the travel and tourism industry are encouraged to nominate female employees for the program.
