Australia’s small businesses will now have access to a range of free online resources to help them understand their rights when it comes to employing staff, thanks to the launch of the Fair Work for Small Business website.
Officially launched today by Federal Minister for Small Business, the Hon Dr Craig Emerson MP, the website www.fairworkforsmallbusiness.com.au gives businesses access to a wide range of information about the new Fair Work Act; including video guides, free summary papers, regular live interactive web sessions and electronic newsletters.
The $2.2 million initiative is funded by the Commonwealth Government, through the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations and supported by Council of Small Business of Australia (COSBOA), together with Workforce Guardian and Telstra Business.
CEO of the Council of Small Business, Jaye Radisich, said the website’s launch came at an important time for small business, particularly in the current economic climate.
“The site will allow small businesses to get across the key issues in a matter of minutes. This is important because in most cases small businesses don’t have the luxury of an in-house HR manager or lawyer that many big businesses have.”
