Symantec Corp. latest findings of it’s 2009 Worldwide Green IT Report has found that 97 percent of businesses globally and in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) are working towards the implementation of a greener IT strategy.
The report found that businesses are placing a higher importance on investing in green IT strategies and solutions, attributed to both cost reduction and environmental responsibility.
Australian and New Zealand businesses in particular are focused on green IT strategies, with 46 percent already implementing green IT initiatives.
ANZ respondents cited the key drivers as reducing electricity consumption (81 percent), reducing cooling costs (78 percent) and corporate pressure to be “green” (86 percent).
“The survey indicates the awareness and adoption of Green technologies and practices have significantly increased over the past year. The Green conscience of corporate Australia and New Zealand is growing and businesses are taking proactive steps to reduce their energy consumption and carbon footprint,” said Craig Scroggie, vice president and managing director, Symantec Pacific region.
