3 Aussies cities in top 10 for ‘most liveable’

A new survey has found that 3 Australian cities have been ranked in the top 10 for the ‘most liveable’ cities in the world.

The  Economist Intelligence Unit’s (EIU) liveability poll, which ranks cities on five factors: health-care, stability, culture and environment, education and infrastructure; ranked Melbourne as the 3rd most liveable city in the world from 140 cities, Perth as equal fifth with Calgary in Canada and Sydney as equal ninth with Zurich in Switzerland.

Vancouver was voted the most liveable city in the world with a ranking of 98 percent (out of a possible 100 percent) due to strong infrastructure, while Harare was voted the toughest, as a result of the unfolding crisis in Zimbabwe.

EIU spokesman Jon Copestake said Australian cities “represent many of the best aspects of liveability.”

Adelaide and Brisbane also made the list, taking out 11th and 16th place respectively.
