Above 8os & 8bot: AI Governance for MSPs. Dynamic Business

Pax8 recently rolled out 8os and 8bot, a paired platform aimed at helping Managed Intelligence Providers (MIPs) bring AI into small and midsized business (SMB) environments in a controlled, scalable way. 8os functions as an operating system to oversee AI agents and models deployed across clients, while 8bot is a managed AI coworker delivered through Pax8 to handle everyday tasks for users—all within governed guardrails. Together they strive to enable predictable AI outcomes, cost control, and bundled AI services for MSPs (Managed Service Providers) scaling their offerings.

Key Features

  • Agentic Workforce Governance: 8os allows providers to view and manage the suite of AI agents (models, tools, workflows) running across multiple SMB customers. It tracks usage, enforces company policies, sets up operating rules, and applies hard caps to prevent runaway costs.

  • Employee AI Coworker: 8bot seats are always-on digital workers, each running on its own dedicated cloud computer with browser, files, and persistent memory. Users can hand off tasks like meeting prep, email follow-ups, or document drafts. It can connect to Microsoft 365 apps initially, with add-ons like Google, QuickBooks, and others on the roadmap.

  • Security & Privacy Controls: Access is managed at both the provider and end-user levels. Read-only access is standard; writing, modifications, and other integrations require explicit approval. Each user’s workspace is isolated so no shared environments, preserving privacy. Providers get deployment and spend visibility but not full access to user content.

  • Predictable Economics & Scale: Partners can track spend and usage per user and per customer. 8os provides tools for setting budgets and caps. 8bot enables recurring-revenue service models; partners can deploy it as a service across clients and price it as desired.

  • Early Access & Roadmap: Both platforms are currently in limited early access; general availability is planned for early 2027. Pax8 is collecting real-world usage feedback to refine pricing, feature sets, and model choices.

Pricing

As of now, Pax8 does not publish fixed pricing tiers for 8os or 8bot. Detailed pricing remains “still being explored,” according to Pax8 executive commentary. A pilot program at their Beyond conference provided partners with usage credits to trial the platform. Thought is being given to tiered packages with preset monthly consumption plus a ceiling, and pay-as-you-go options for overage. Exact costs per seat or per customer will be disclosed closer to general availability in early 2027.

Who is it for?

8os and 8bot are designed primarily for businesses operating as service providers rather than end-user SMBs. MSPs, MIPs, or technology partners who already provide managed services should find this most applicable. In practice, companies that want to build a recurring AI-driven offering—such as automating back-office tasks, increasing employee productivity, or scaling workflows—will benefit. Use cases include:

  • Automating consistent tasks across clients without reinventing models per customer.

  • Providing oversight and compliance over AI agents in organizations with little or no existing governance.

  • Offering AI coworkers as a value-add service to existing managed services contracts.

Roles such as CTOs, Operations Leads, Product Managers in MSPs, and SMB decision-makers evaluating third-party AI service providers are the key audiences. Companies that are already comfortable with SaaS integrations, Microsoft 365 environments, and cloud deployment will adapt more quickly.

Final thoughts

Pax8’s 8os and 8bot aim to address a growing pain point in the SMB marketplace: AI adoption without governance or consistency. By combining oversight, recurring service delivery, and AI coworker functionality, the tools promise structure and revenue potential for service providers. However, lack of transparent pricing today means decisions will require engagement with Pax8 to understand cost models and margins. For MSPs exploring adding AI as a managed service, these platforms could represent a foundational step—but actual value will depend heavily on how pricing works out and how quickly MSPs can operationalize deployment.
