Unemployment likely to remain at 5.7 percent

Analysts are predicting unemployment to remain unchanged at 5.7 percent, when the latest job figures for December are released today.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics is set to reveal its labour force data for December, and most experts are expecting a rise of around 0.1 percent in employment, which would mean the unemployment rate would remain unchanged at 5.7 percent.

The jobs market appears to be recovering well from the financial crisis, with the latest ANZ job ad figures released on Monday revealing job ads surged by six percent in December.
