Sporting clubs must become “modern day businesses”
A telecommunications specialist is urging Australian sporting clubs still using outdated technology to update their communications systems to become more of a “modern day business.”
Comscentre national sales manager Cameron Quilty said many of the nation’s sporting clubs should replace their ageing communications systems and embrace new technology to help them grow.
“In recent times we have witnessed a shift in the management of sporting institutions from traditional ‘club mentality’ to ‘modern day business’, and part of this transformation includes the adoption of new technologies and systems that are capable of driving efficiencies, reliability and costs savings,“ he said.
Quilty said many sporting clubs were still plagued with communication problems including unreliable and slow services, expensive communication costs, had multiple providers for various services, minimal functionality and a lack of integration with other company systems.
“Without reliable communications systems fans cannot contact the club, the club cannot contact sponsors and the ease of information exchange is compromised,” he said.
