The floods raging in south-east Queensland may damage small business retailers and some may not survive, says Retailers Association executive director Scott Driscoll.
Mr Driscoll said that the sector has been attempting to weather the “economic storm” and QLD retailers will now have to ride out an actual storm.
“Retailers’ bottom lines are being savagely attacked at a time when they can least afford it.”
Queensland Chamber of Commerce executive, Nick Behrens said QLD retailers cannot afford to be out of business for any more important trade days.
“One in three retailers is under severe financial pressure as a result of the economic downturn and the loss of two or three days trade could prove too much to bear.”
