The global amusement industry is gearing up for a thrilling event in Bangkok, Thailand.
From May 27th to 30th, the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre will be transformed into a hub of innovation and excitement as IAAPA Expo Asia 2024 kicks off. This premier trade exhibition, the largest in the region, promises to showcase the cutting-edge advancements that are shaping the future of fun.
The three-day event will showcase cutting-edge advancements in the attractions industry, featuring over 300 exhibitors. Highlights will include thrilling rides, robotics, safety features, and AI experiences.
The amusement industry, significantly impacted by COVID lockdowns and restrictions, has made a robust recovery, reclaiming 98% of the spending lost in 2020. By the end of 2024, global spending in the industry is expected to reach nearly $58.7 billion USD.
IAAPA Expo Asia Pacific Executive Director and Vice President, Jack Chan, attributes the industry’s resilience to the universal appeal of entertainment and recreation.
“Amusement and theme parks are a cultural phenomenon that entertain millions and significantly contribute to the economy,” Chan said. “In an era where experiences are highly valued, the industry must meet the growing demand for immersive entertainment.”
Key trends and solutions at the expo include:
- 5D multisensory attractions that engage sight, sound, touch, and smell
- Innovative approaches to environmental sustainability, such as waste management and energy efficiency
- Personalized guest experiences
- Advanced safety and crowd/queue management technologies
The expo will also feature keynote speakers from major entertainment venues like Shanghai Disney Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland, Universal Beijing Resort, Enchanted Kingdom (Philippines), Dreamworld (Australia), Studio City Macau, and Ramayana Water Park.
The IAAPA Expo Asia 2024 serves the entire attractions industry, including amusement and water parks, family entertainment centers, zoos, aquariums, museums, science centers, nature attractions, event facilities, and food and beverage operators.
“Our event covers the full spectrum of attractions,” Chan said. “It’s the premier industry event for networking, professional development, and connecting with manufacturers, suppliers, and business leaders.”
This year’s theme, “Shape Your Evolution,” emphasizes education and growth. Industry experts will share insights and strategies to help attendees enhance their businesses. The comprehensive education program will cover personnel development, merchandise, F&B trends, and revenue diversification. EDUTours will offer exclusive behind-the-scenes access to some of Thailand’s top entertainment venues.
“Whether you’re part of a multinational corporation or a small family-run operation, IAAPA Expo Asia is the ideal environment to ignite inspiration and connect with industry leaders,” Chan said.
