Business owners put tablet on Christmas wishlist

One in three small business owners want a tablet for work purposes this Christmas, according to Telstra Business Research. Many SMB owners are considering buying an iPad or similar tablet in the lead-up to Christmas.

Will Irving, group managing director of Telstra Business said the tablet is the preferred gift of choice because of its mobility, simplicity and flexibility.

“Telstra expects they will top the Christmas wishlist for many this year: for small business, they really appeal because they’re simple to use and they help make work even easier on the go,” Irving said.

Smartphones and high-speed mobile broadband have proved popular among SMBs with 75 percent of employees being equipped with laptops and 50 percent with smartphones.

Tablets bring increased mobility for workers with the research showing 60 percent of SMBs have at least one staff member spending most of his or her time working away from the business’ main location.

“For businesses that encourage staff to work away from the office, 89 percent say tablets make their work moderately to significantly more efficient,” Irving said.
