Dynamic Business is celebrating Australian Made Week by spotlighting inspiring founders creating meaningful impact with locally made products.
By keeping everything Australian-made, I’m not only supporting local jobs and craftsmanship, but also creating a sustainable, high-quality product that Aussie mums can truly trust.
Angela
Meet Angela Dion, the mum-turned-inventor behind Simple Breastfeeding, a brand that’s rewriting the rules of breastfeeding support.
When Angela became a mum, she never expected that her most challenging moments would spark a world-first invention. A single mother of two and a hairdresser by trade, Angela found herself struggling with something many mums know all too well: breastfeeding.
Born from experience
“I battled neck pain, migraines, and the frustration of trying to juggle holding both my breast and baby. All I wanted was to bond with my baby, but I felt uncomfortable and unsupported.”
That everyday struggle became the seed of something extraordinary. After a midwife suggested she roll up a face washer for support, Angela realised something was missing: a product that supported the breast, not just the baby. It was this lightbulb moment that set her on a four-year mission and led to the birth of the Blissful Bond® Boobie Pillow.
Now patented, trademarked, and trusted by mums, doctors, lactation consultants and more, the Blissful Bond® Boobie Pillow is the world’s first hands-free breastfeeding pillow with a shoulder strap. “It’s proudly made in Australia using medical-grade, antimicrobial, and allergy-free materials,” Angela says. “But this isn’t just a product, it’s a purpose.”
Born from her lived experience, the pillow is a physical representation of support and bonding. Handmade locally, each one features an adjustable strap in three beautiful colours: Gold, Blue, and Pink, offering a secure and customised fit. And when breastfeeding ends, those straps can be reused as belts or bag straps, adding sustainability to everyday life.
Proudly made in Australia
Simple Breastfeeding is about more than convenience or comfort. “It was created to empower mums to continue breastfeeding when they might otherwise give up.” With global recognition, growing stockists, and a deeply engaged community, Angela’s brand has become a symbol of support and strength.
The Australian-made roots of the business run deep. Each product is crafted with love and care using local materials and packaged sustainably, no plastic, no overseas mass production. Angela believes in keeping things close to home and giving back. “We continue to give back by donating to children affected by domestic violence, supporting children with dementia, and working toward providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Our mission has always been to support, uplift, and create meaningful change, both for parents and the wider community.”
Her local commitment extends beyond her product line. Events like the PBC Expo, One Fine Baby, and the Reed Gift Fair have helped raise visibility. “These events connected me with stockists from baby boutiques to pharmacies and health professionals and gave real parents the chance to discover the Blissful Bond Boobie Pillow in person.”
Recognition followed. Within just three months of launching, Angela was named Entrepreneur of the Year 2024 at the North West Community Business Awards (SA), received two Bronze Stevie® Awards at the international Women in Business Awards in New York, and went on to win the Brain Award at the Freedom Awards. She was also a finalist in the Australian Small Business Champion Awards 2025.
Angela Dion’s story is a powerful reminder of what Australian innovation can look like, purposeful, practical, and filled with heart.
