Wotif celebrates 10 years online

Wotif.com is celebrating ten years in business this month after opening its virtual doors in 2000 to provide online discount hotel bookings.

The Brisbane-based company opened with a bold plan in the online accommodation space. Hotels were invited to load distressed inventory onto the site for rooms to be sold at a discounted rate. Within months Wotif.com was selling live, up-to-date accommodation rates, racing ahead of the competition.

Wotif.com CEO Robbie Cooke said growth over the past ten years has been phenomenal, with Wotif.com offices opening around the world. Wotif

“We opened our first international office in 2001, and we now sell accommodation in 55 countries around the world,” Mr Cooke said.

“As we announced in our half-yearly results recently, the Wotif.com business has continued to gain momentum with more and more consumers deserting the old “bricks and mortar” travel stores and discovering the value, convenience and ease of booking online.”

“We survived the dot.com crash in the early days, then we got through the GFC and now ten years on we’ve released record results. It’s been a hugely successful ten years for Wotif.com and we anticipate another ten years of growing success for the company.”

“We now get more than 3.8 million visitors to Wotif.com every month and are making more than 260,000 bookings monthly.”

Wotif.com is running a $10 bonus night sale to celebrate ten years in the business which ends on the 17th March. Go to www.wotif.com for more details.
