Sue-Ellen Watts, the Founder, Owner and Managing Director of external HR department Watts Next, has been named a finalist in two Telstra Queensland Business Women’s Awards categories.
Watts Next delivers specialist support to SMEs, and Watt is a finalist in the Business Owner and Young Business Woman award categories.
Ms Watts started Watts Next in 2007 as a newcomer to Brisbane, three months after the birth of her first child. With no start-up funds and no business contacts, she spent the early days of her business working from her son’s childcare centre so she could continue to breastfeed.
In four years, she’s grown her start-up from a sole operator to nine employees and has provided specialist HR support to over 130 SMEs.
“I believe that SME employees and managers deserve access to the same level of HR support as larger organisations with in-house HR-departments.”
“We offer a comprehensive ‘HR product’ that includes employment contracts, policies and procedures, implemented over a 12-month period to create a long-lasting HR foundation for the business.”
Watts plans to open offices across Australia over the coming years, starting with Adelaide.
Winners will be announced in Brisbane on Tuesday 11 October.
