Victoria’s Small Business Festival is taking place across the state during August 2011. Hundreds of exciting business events will provide inspiration, ideas and information for anyone interested in starting, building or running a business.
The festival theme is ‘Add One More Skill’ and there is a focus on events supporting the Victorian retail sector. The official festival guide, available from 12 July, is packed with small business information and details of all events in 2011.
Retail Selling Strategies From The Top – Making Retailers Successful International speaker and business expert Rob Hartnett delivers practical workshops on learning how to cross sell, up sell and do it all with a win-win attitude to retail – Events in Shepparton, Sale, Morwell, Geelong and Bendigo, 8-17 August.

The Regional Shopping and Destination Fair
A one-day fair featuring small business retailers and tourism officers showcasing unique shopping experiences and destinations from across regional Victoria – The Atrium, Federation Square, 10am-3pm, 12 August.
Small Business Heroes Exhibition: The Retailers
Colourful and inspiring display featuring candid images and stories of small business owners who are taking an innovative or interesting approach to their retail business – The Atrium, Federation Square, Melbourne, 5-14 August and Central Square Shopping Centre, Ballarat, 16-23 August. Free.
Small Business BIG Marketing
An inspirational and practical half day event incorporating seminars from leading business marketers, marketing services expo, networking opportunities and practical small business marketing tips – Melbourne Park Function Centre, 8am-12noon, 25 August.
Social Media For Business: The Hands-On Workshop
Learn about the fast-moving area of business marketing using Facebook, Twitter, blogs and e-print in a friendly, informal environment. Maximise online marketing opportunities for your small business – Melbourne Park Function Centre, 1pm-3pm, 25 August.
The Retailers Lunch @ Zinc
