Apple has revealed iPhone 4S orders have topped one million in just 24 hours, far surpassing its previous single day pre-order record of 600,000 held by the iPhone 4.
Apple senior vice-president of WorldWide Product Marketing Philip Schiller said the company is blown away by the response to the iPhone 4S.
“The first day pre-orders for iPhone 4S have been the most for any new product that Apple has ever launched and we are thrilled that customers love iPhone 4S as much as we do.”
Apple is badging its iPhone 4S as the “most amazing iPhone yet, packed with incredible new features” including Apple’s dual-core A5 chip, an all new advanced camera, full 1080p HD resolution video recording and an intelligent assistant named Siri.
Optus and Vodafone have both announced their pricing for the iPhone 4S, which will be available locally on Friday, whilst Telstra is yet to detail pricing.
All three telcos are also taking pre-orders.
