Vodafone Hutchinson Australia (VHA) is the global launch partner for the HTC Desire HD, which was announced in London alongside the HTC Desire Z in September. The Desire HD had been slated for release sometime in October however the software on the phone failed last minute Google testing and has pushed the Australian release until “sometime in November” on Vodafone.

The HTC Desire HD will be available on Vodafone for $0 upfront on Vodafone’s $59 promo offer over 24 months. With Ross Parker, General Manager Devices and Pricing, Vodafone expecting the HTC Desire HD to sell almost as well as Apple’s iPhone 4 for Vodafone over Christmas.

“The HTC Desire HD is one of the most highly anticipated Android smartphones this year, and will give customers an even simpler and more amazing experience,”

“Available to our Vodafone and 3 customers, we expect the HTC Desire HD, with its stunning features and multimedia performance, along with a competitive price point to be one of the hottest Android devices this Christmas.” Mr Parker said.

Anthony Petts, Sales and Marketing Director ANZ, HTC Corporation sees value in the HTC Desire HD not only in the phone hardware itself, but in the HTCSense.com services that include useful features for business owners concerned about privacy, with the ability to wipe the contents of a phone remotely including added memory cards if the phone is lost or stolen.

“The HTC Desire HD includes the new version of HTC Sense which introduces a number of key innovations including a series of connected services called HTCSense.com, that broadens a user’s mobile experience,” said Mr Petts.

Telstra and Optus customers will be left out in the cold if wanting a HTC Desire HD, with the phone exclusive to VHA (Vodafone and 3 Mobile) forever in Australia. Vodafone have no plans to offer the phone for purchase outright at this stage, only offering the HTC Desire HD on 24 month contracts when you sign up on a post-paid cap.
