Telstra today announced 137 businesses from across Australia as finalists in the 2007 Telstra Business Awards.
The Telstra Business Awards program was established in 1992 and recognises Australian businesses with fewer than 100 employees. Group Managing Director of Telstra Business and the Telstra Business Awards Ambassador, Ms Deena Shiff, said she was impressed with the high calibre of finalists this year.
"This year’s finalists are leading the way in the business community," Ms Shiff said. "Running a business offers new challenges daily, particularly if you are just starting out. It’s fantastic that every year we can shine the spotlight on businesses that serve as an inspiration to others.
"Telstra us proud to celebrate the invaluable contribution small and medium businesses male to Australia’s economy," Ms Shiff said. AMP Innovation Award Finalists from the above categories will also be considered for the AMP Innovation Award, which recognises businesses who have recently introduced an innovative procedure, product or service. Category awards are offered in each state and territory, and an overall state/territory winner is selected from the business category winners.
All category winners will share in a national prize pool of over $400,000 in grants, products and services. Award winners from each state and territory will attend the national final in Sydney on Friday September 21, where they will be eligible to win the national award in their category.
Overall winners from each state and territory will be in the running to be named 2007 Telstra Australian Business of the Year.
