Austrade’s successful Business Club Australia initiative is turning its attention towards next year’s Beijing Olympics.
Endorsed by the Australian Olympic Committee as Australia’s official international business program, organisers of Business Club Australia will run business networking events in and around the games in both Australia and Beijing, as well as one-on-one meetings for Australian companies present in Beijing during the games.
Past Business Club Australia events have delivered $1.7 billion in business deals from over 260 worldwide events.
Peter Osborne, Austrade’s senior trade commissioner in Beijing says getting on-the-ground knowledge of the Chinese market is invaluable for exporters. “Chinese business practice is heavily relationship-based and Australian companies need to be willing to spend time in the market with their business partners to develop strong relationships and trust, on which very good business can be achieved.”
Business Club Australia also has events lined up in France to coincide with this year’s Rugby World Cup and in Melbourne for the 2007 Melbourne Cup Carnival.
