Australian businesses have one week left to get an assessment of their operations and a chance to win public acclaim, with entries for the 2010 Telstra Business Awards closing on Friday 16 April.
The Awards, in their 18th year, recognise Australia’s best micro, small and medium sized companies and help propel them to further achievements as a result of the profile and business insights they can receive.
Deena Shiff, Telstra Business Group Managing Director, said that to date thousands of businesses have been nominated by members of the community for Australia’s best-known and most prestigious business prize.
“With less than two weeks to go, I encourage businesses to enter to gain the business benefits that participation offers,” Ms Shiff said.
“Every year we get great feedback from entrants and finalists that entering the Awards has helped them focus and plan their businesses.
“The new Business Health Check really takes that a step further offering all businesses entering the chance to check their vital signs and get an even better picture of where they stand and how well placed they are to take advantage of opportunities to grow and expand.”
The Business Health Check is based on international benchmarking standards including the Global Reporting Index and Innovation Standards, current legislation and accepted industry best practice.
It was developed by Telstra Business in consultation with the NSW Business Chamber which has been using it to coach and develop businesses over the past four years.
For the 2010 Telstra Business Awards, there are five categories, including the businessowner Micro-Business Award, MYOB Small Business Award, Panasonic Australia Medium Business Award, AMP Innovation Award and the Sensis Social Responsibility Award.
Category awards are offered in each state and territory, and an overall state/territory winner is selected from the category winners. Winners of each state/territory category are then eligible to take out the national category, with the overall state/territory winners eligible to win the 2010 Telstra Australian Business of the Year, which will be announced on 20 August.
