Workshop for mature employees and Gen Y

The Department of State and Regional Development is set to hold a small business workshop targeted at mature age employees and young entrepreneurs, designed to improve communication between the two groups.

Demographer and social researcher, Mark McCrindle will be on hand to provide insights for young entrepreneurs on demographic trends shaping the future of the business sector, along with helping them to appreciate the expectations of mature-age employees to minimise costs through reduced staff turnover, and increasing productivity.

Key issues include:

  • From Boomers & Xers to Generations Y & Z: leading intergenerational teams.
  • Understanding the attitudes, & values of the older generations.
  • Communication strategies that bridge the gap: from resolving conflict to active listening.
  • Engaging with Boomer and Xer customers and staff members: what works best.
  • Motivating and rewarding staff: reward and recognition that works across the generations.
  • Understanding the older customer: Strategies to meet the needs of the biggest consumers in the economy.

The free workshop will be held at the MLC Centre in Sydney, on the 2nd of April. For more information, please visit http://www.smallbiz.nsw.gov.au/events
