Telstra helps businesses manage M2M services

Australian SMBs can more easily manage wireless machine-to-machine services, with Telstra launching its Wireless M2M Control Centre.Telstra

The Telstra Wireless M2M Control Centre is a web-based self-service platform that allows business, enterprise and government organisations to self-manage a range of machine-to-machine (M2M)-based products that use the Next G network for wireless internet connectivity. The platform will support devices used for actions such as electronic metering, asset tracking and remote operations and is also expected to accelerate market entry for connected consumer devices such as electronic readers, picture frames and portable navigation devices.

The M2M service will give customers more flexibility and control to quickly activate, deploy and manage their M2M services, according to Executive Director of Telstra Enterprise & Government John Paitaridis.

“The launch of the Telstra Wireless M2M Control Centre allows our approved business, enterprise and government customers to increase their productivity by connecting and administering M2M services themselves at their organisation via a powerful yet easy to use web-based tool,” Mr Paitaridis said.

“The platform provides Telstra with the ability to offer customers more flexibility in M2M pricing and data plan options to suit the needs of their business and type of applications they are using,” Mr Paitaridis added.

Telstra will begin trials of the platform from tomorrow, when approved customers and developers will be given a new Wireless M2M Developer Kit containing a set of SIM cards enabled with a trial data and SMS allowance to help customers test and develop their wireless M2M solution.
