The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) has announced its state and territory winners and national finalists for the prestigious 2009 iAwards, which recognises Australia’s most outstanding information and communications technology (ICT) innovators.
Awards were distributed to winners in the categories of Communication, eGovernment, eHealth, eInclusions & ecommunity, eLearning, eLogistics and supply chain, Financial Industry Application, Industrial Applications, Media and Entertainment, Research & Development, Sustainability & Green IT, Tools and Infrastructure and Tourism & Hospitality.
According to AIIA CEO Ian Birks, there was a strong interest from the industry in this year’s iAwards with Australian companies continuing to demonstrate a “high level of innovation in developing products and services that drive productivity growth across all industries.”
He said that the finalists are not only “solving problems in clever ways”, but are tackling problems on a broad scale through the use of “ICT to address the challenges faced by businesses in Australia and around the world.”
iAwards state and territory winners will now enter the national competition and winners in each category will be announced at a gala dinner announcing the iAward winners in Melbourne on 27 May 2009.
