Kraft has officially crowned the new Vegemite spread iSnack2.0.
The company held a competition to name the new spread, attracting 48,000 entries.
According to the company, the winning entry was chosen for its personal call to action and clear identification of a new and different Vegemite.
With the product’s tag line reading: “iSnack2.0, because it’s the next generation Vegemite,” the move is a bid by the food company to target a younger market and capitalize on the Apple iPod, iPhone trend.
According to The Sun Herald, the young man who came up with the name was thoroughly excited his suggestion was chosen.
West Australian web designer Dean Robbins, 27, told The Sun Herald: ”It’s been difficult to contain my excitement; I actually leapt out of my chair when I heard the news. To think that I could go down in Australia’s history is overwhelming.”
