Celebrate and recognise this EOFY

You’re wrapping up and also reviewing the year that has passed and you’re planning ahead for the new financial year… but don’t forget to take time to celebrate!

I know it’s not a usual time for celebration, but after wrapping up one financial year and rolling into another one, what better time!  Business owners rarely give themselves a pat on the back, and this month I want you to do just that.

For some of you self-recognition is rare, you’re so busy doing the day to day work that it’s easy to miss.  I encourage you to recognise the hard work and determination that you have put in to your business, what you have achieved and the contribution you make to your local business community.  And recognise what your team has helped you achieve.

So whether you’re a sole trader, a team of 3, 30 or even 200, recognise the effort everyone has put in to your business over the past year.  If your business has hit or surpassed your targets this year, reward the commitment of the people who helped make it all happen.  It doesn’t have to be epic, just something that demonstrates your appreciation.

And if the year didn’t go quite as planned, it’s still important to recognise the effort that went in to get you through the year and help motivate yourself and your team for a fresh new year ahead.

I’m presenting the MYOB Small Business Award at the Telstra Business Awards in Tasmania and Victoria next week and I’m looking forward to helping recognise the amazing business community that Australia has, and sharing in the celebration.

Love Your Work Aussie businesses!

What about you, do you take a moment out to celebrate what you and your teams have achieved this past year?  What do you do?

What do you think?
