Business leaders battle it out on the cricket pitch

Business experts are claiming the best way to build business and establish relationships in business is to battle is out on the cricket pitch.

As the first member to sign up to the Corporate 2020 Cricket Series, Steven Buxton,  joint managing director of property development company Hamton, believes a fast game of cricket is a great way to build relationships with potential clients.

“Corporate 2020 Cricket Series is providing a unique opportunity to play sport and network at the same time,” he said.

The new series of corporate cricket matches kicks off in February in Melbourne, and will feature 16 teams selected from Melbourne’s leading companies.

For Joe Long, Principal of business coaching consultancy, Longvision, the series is not only good for networking, but great for internal team building.

“In the office every employee has an assumed role and expectations that by nature set a serious tone that can be competitive and dividing, often singling out individuals either through their success or their failings,” he said.

“By taking a team of workers into a sports environment it promotes interaction and bonding in a fun environment where there a no expectations for individuals other than to work together as a team, and have fun,” he added.
