BlackBerry Pearl 3G launched exclusively with Telstra

Telstra has released the smallest BlackBerry smartphone ever, the BlackBerry Pearl 3G, available exclusively from Telstra for three months beginning today.

BlackBerry Pearl 3GThe BlackBerry Pearl 3G, described as ‘compact and stylish’ measures less than 50 mm wide and weighs only 93grams and comes equipped with a 3.2MP camera and all the usual BlackBerry software including BlackBerry email, messaging and social networking capabilities. Due to it’s compact ‘candy bar’ form factor BlackBerry has incorporated a 20-key condensed QWERTY keyboard and RIM’s SureType software that can complete words as a user types.

Adele Beachley, Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand, Research In Motion highlighted the push for consumer sales for the BlackBerry Pearl 3G, with the company hoping to break free of the corporate smartphone market.

We believe the BlackBerry Pearl 3G will appeal to many customers who want a smartphone that offers both fashion and function,” said

Telstra’s Executive Director, Mobility Products, Ross Fielding emphasised the social aspects of the BlackBerry Pearl 3G coupled with the Telstra Next G network.

“The BlackBerry Pearl 3G smartphone is a beautifully designed smartphone that’s easy to use, compact, lightweight and stylish. Combined with our new and great value BlackBerry Cap plan, this smartphone makes it easy and affordable for social people to connect, exchange messages quickly, access info as it happens and share favourite moments.”

“It also makes for the perfect businesses companion providing secure access to email and other business functions in a compact format,” Mr Fielding said.

Continuing the trend for Telstra phone releases, the BlackBerry Pearl 3G is available exclusively from the carrier for three months, although the smartphone can be purchased outright from Telstra for $679 from today online at www.telstra.com/blackberrypearl or T[life] stores in Sydney, Perth and Melbourne. The ‘stylish’ royal purple BlackBerry Pearl 3G is exclusive to Fone Zone retailers until the end of June.
