The Vinnies CEO Sleepout, a charity event raising money to help tackle homelessness, is being held later this month and registrations are open now.
The event is targeted at helping more than 100,000 Australians who spend each night of the year without a home and raising awareness.
Just under half of Australia’s homeless are women while a quarter are under 18.
The event began eight years ago in Parramatta and was an initiative of Bernard Fehon, the managing director of a financial planning business called Tactical Solutions.
Since the event was first staged in June 2006 at Olympic Park in Sydney, the Sleepout has raised more than $13 million in funds for Vinnies’ Homeless Services.
It is now a widely recognised charity event and has attracted some of the biggest names in politics and business.
The event went national in 2010 and attracted 700 CEOs that year from across the country. Last year, the event raised $5.3 million nationally.
It’s a great cause and CEOs can register for the event here at the following website.
Managing Director of CreditorWatch and publisher of Dynamic Business Colin Porter will be attending this year’s sleep-out to raise money for the cause.
He will be attending the sleep out on Thursday June 19 at Carriageworks in the heart of Sydney. Like other CEOs he will be furnished with a small piece of cardboard to sleep under and will spend the night in a sleeping bag with only the basic necessities, including a basic meal of soup and bread rolls.
This is a great cause and Dynamic Business is encouraging other CEOs to participate and help make a difference for those less fortunate than themselves. You can also click here to donate to this worthwhile cause.
